IMPACT — SK2 Fund
Impact

How do we know our programs, grants, and investments are having the intended impact? By examining both quantitative and qualitative data, we develop a more complete understanding of context behind results.

SK2 Fund uses an impact measurement framework based on the UN 2030 Sustainable Development Goals, and we prioritize and measure select metrics for the 7 mission-aligned SDGs shown below. Just as important, and maybe more, is qualitative evidence from stakeholder stories illustrating how real lives are being changed.

We are not content with measuring impact through reporting alone—we also prioritize visiting our investees and grantees at their places of business to gain deeper context and appreciation for their work.

Investment Impact & Demographics

We are committed to applying all financial resources at our disposal to maximize our impact, including our impact first endowment portfolio, which is carefully invested in alignment with our mission.

SK2 Fund is in sync with the following UN Sustainable Development Goals 2030 (SDG’S)

End hunger, achieve food security and improved nutrition, and promote sustainable agriculture

SK2 is supporting smallholder farmer-driven sustainable and regenerative agriculture and the movement away from corporate monocultures. To succeed, smallholder farmers also need to become more profitable. Investments, grants aligned with SDG 2 seek to integrate both objectives.

Achieve gender equality and empower all women and girls

Gender equality is a core part of our mission and cuts across all of our programs, grants and investments. We seek to level the playing field for women in access to employment, leadership opportunities, and access to investment capital. We prioritize support for women entrepreneurs working on all of the above issues.

Ensure access to affordable, reliable, sustainable and modern energy for all

We support the global transition away from fossil fuels to renewable energy sources. Our focus is supporting access to clean energy resources for disadvantaged populations without electrical grid access (aka off-grid or last mile distribution). Projects must demonstrate both economic and quality of life benefits for customer beneficiaries.

Promote sustained, inclusive and sustainable economic growth, full and productive employment and decent work for all

SK2 supports grassroots entrepreneurship and small businesses through a combination of grants, loans, and endowment investments. We prioritize support to ventures combining inclusive, quality employment & leadership opportunities for women and other disadvantaged populations.

Reduce inequality within and among countries

We specifically seek to contribute to bridging the wide gap in access to investment capital for entrepreneurs of color. We also support businesses creating improved leadership opportunities for the same, as well as enhanced wages, benefits, and shared ownership options.

Ensure sustainable consumption and production patterns

Environmental sustainability is core to SK2’s mission. We support this primarily by investing in environmentally responsible small businesses demonstrating commitment to improving environmental practices in their core business models, such as reducing pollution and waste, recycling and converting by-products into sustainable and beneficial products, and sourcing more sustainable raw materials.

Protect, restore and promote sustainable use of terrestrial ecosystems, sustainably manage forests, combat desertification, and halt and reverse land degradation and halt biodiversity loss

The SK2 family has a long history supporting terrestrial conservation efforts focusing on preventing deforestation and land degradation through conservation and sustainable land management.
